On Sunday, 17th April, 12 brave volunteers formed the West Midlands Lupus Group Golden Bond Team and entered the Virgin London Marathon.
After months of arduous training, each runner completed the course and, in doing so, raised valuable funding to help lupus research/patient care.
Whilst running the course, Dave Jones, alias Wally Wombat, managed to give a terrific interview to the BBC as well as blowing up and modelling balloons which he gave to the crowds of onlookers.
For the first time ever, a Lupus Cheering Point was set up outside the Ministry of Defence (opposite the London Eye). Organised by John Hibbs, the cheers were led by the Hibbs Family – thank you Team Hibbsy for supporting WMLG, LUPUS UK and LUPUS EUROPE runners so fantastically.
