Charity benefits from French student's work experience efforts
A double glazing company has donated £100 to charity in recognition of a French student’s hard work. 

Nineteen-year-old Marianne Ramos so impressed her boss at LE Windows,  Halesowen, during her six weeks of work experience that he wanted to make the  gesture in lieu of wages. 

The student from Veynes in the Alps has been staying with a family in Halesowen and helping out with French lessons at Howley Grange Primary School one day a week to help her pass her English test in her baccalaureate qualification back in France. 

Lovell Ebanks, who runs LE Windows on the Belfont Trading Estate, said  Marianne had done so well he chose to make the donation to the West Midlands Lupus Group.

Runners raise £7k for cause
A Hednesford couple raised £7,000 for the West Midlands Lupus Group through
running the London Marathon and other fundraising events.

John and Kate, are trying to raise awareness of the connective tissue disease. John’s 26-year-old sister, Vicki, also of  Hednesford, was diagnosed with lupus two years ago.

The couple will also be running in the marathon again next year in aid of the
group.  Events have included a charity curry evening at the Padma Lounge in Cannock and the online auction of signed portraits of Liverpool footballers Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.
